FAQs
How often should I come in for appointments?
That really depends on your specific needs. Obviously, consistency is important, especially in the beginning. Once-a-week is the "norm," but some clients come in more often when important auditions come up, or they need to prepare for a callback. As you begin to prepare your audition music, it's important to realize that going to a coach is not like buying a pair of shoes - you don't necessarily walk out with a song "ready to go." Coaching is a process that involves not only choosing the right material, but also arranging, transposing the music, as well as working on the performance, both vocally and physically. How many songs you need varies with the situation; obviously you wouldn't sing the same song to audition for Show Boat as you would for Grease. So you should have several songs in different styles ready. Learning a song the night before is never a good idea, since you won't be totally comfortable with it. Auditioning involves many pressures that are not under your control. It's important not to add the additional pressure of learning a song at the last minute.
Where is your studio located?

My studio is in midtown Manhattan at 850 Seventh Avenue, Suite 804, between 54th & 55th Streets. It's around the corner from the David Letterman Show, and a block away from Carnegie Hall.

Who are your students?
My students run the gamut from Broadway professionals to people who just like to sing. I feel it is not my job to judge your goals as much as it is to help you fulfill them. I try to help you become the best you can be, and achieve all you are capable of.
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum of 24 hours is required for cancellations, or the time reserved must be paid for.
What is a good time to reach you on the telephone?
As you might imagine, answering a phone call in the middle of a vocal coaching session can be pretty disruptive. So your calls will often be answered by a digital answering machine, and I'll do my best to call you back as soon as I can. The very best time to reach me directly are mornings before 9 AM. I am almost always in the studio, and I'll be glad to make appointments, answer questions, or give advice.
What should I bring to my first session?
It's a good idea to bring some sheet music you are currently singing, including songs you've done in previous auditions. I need to get an idea of where you've been to help me determine where you need to go. Your resume might also be helpful. If you don't have any previous experience, don't worry about it -- just bring yourself. I'll supply the rest!
What is your payment policy?
Payment is expected at each session. Cash or major credit cards are fine; I no longer accept checks. As stated above, a minimum of 24 hours is required for cancellations, or the time reserved must be paid for.
I live out of town; how can I find a good teacher or coach?
Referrals are the best way to find a reputable professional. Or you could get in touch with the music/vocal department of a nearby college or university.  Someone on their faculty probably teaches privately, or could refer you to someone who does.
